Westpac statements contain the year in the dates, this means that the formatted CSV output can be imported directly in accounting software like Xero, Quickbooks and MYOB.

Table headers are not always displayed on each page of the bank statement. This means that headers from previous pages are used to evaluate potential matches. This complicates filtering other data in the bank statements such as notices and advertisements, its important to verify the output to ensure no extra information was merged into transaction descriptions.

Westpac statements have different layouts and transaction data for different types of accounts. For example the Westpac Business One Plus accounts contain Date Transaction Description, Debit, Credit and Balance where as the Westpac Business Cash Reserve statement contains Date, Description, Withdrawal and Deposit.

Section 286 of the Corporations Act requires financial records to be kept for at least seven years after the transactions covered by the records are complete.
